With all the rain, we have had to adjust our Serve Austin event. We will no longer be throwing a block party for our neighbors, but we still have many vital opportunities to serve our city as a church. As needs have come, we truly believe that this is a “Season to Serve.” Please consider the opportunities below and serve where you are able.
On Saturday, Nov 14th at 8:00a-12p
Come up to the church to do some clearing of the brush in the back 8 acres. Bring your Chainsaws, Work Gloves, Shovels, Yard Cutters and Wheelbarrows. If you are going to come click here so we know how many to expect.
On Sunday Nov. 15th at 1:30p-3:30p
Come to Small Middle School and help plant trees, build a tool shed, and help with gardening. Please contact Leah Thompson at Leah.Thompson@austinoakschurch.org for this project. There will be a lunch for volunteers from 12:45p-1:30p at the church before heading over to Small Middle School.
On Sunday Nov. 15th starting at 4:30p-8:30p
We will be having our Annual ESL Thanksgiving in the Triple Room. This is a night to show our international neighbors our hospitality as well as share the gospel through the Thanksgiving story. For this we are asking people to bring traditional Thanksgiving Sides, serve food, was dishes, and clean up. Click Here to sign up for what you want to bring and/or do.
On Saturday, Nov. 21st in the evening (Already Full)
Our own Nueva Vida will be hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for families in need from Odom Elementary school. Please pray for their time to be fruitful and for the families to be blessed as they enter into the Christmas season.
On Sunday, Nov. 22nd at 3:00-6:00p
Austin Oaks has been invited to Community First Village to help with a Thanksgiving dinner for the formerly homeless. Community First is a housing community in East Austin created to help the homeless take their first step off the streets. They have asked us to sign up to bring side dishes, be greeters, do parking control, etc. You can sign up by clicking here. RSVP and check off what you’ll bring or do.
